About this book

This book was first published in June 2008.  It is 10 cm (4") wide by 14.7 cm (5.8") long, and approximately 6 mm (1/4") thick. It easily fits into a purse or even a back pocket. It contains 28 poems over 128 pages.

What follows is the Introduction to this book:

Welcome to “Now for the too hard basket”. Thank you for choosing this book.

Over the last six years I have written a large number of poems, and a variety of subjects have been discussed. Most of the issues were relevant to me at the time, or something that I observed in life.

After drafting my first two books, I felt that it was now time to make a statement. To tackle some of the harder issues in life, that all too often, are put in what I have called “the too hard basket”.

Life at times can be very challenging.  Even during these times, it is possible to find solace and comfort in the experiences of others.

You may find what is happening to you, is just a stage and that others have also encountered the same feelings.  In knowing this, you can be optimistic that it is also possible for you to overcome these situations.

It is hoped that this book will go some way to helping you along that path.  As with everything in life, I do not have the answers for you, only suggestions and alternatives that may help you to find your own way.

This book will unashamedly pull strings and it is fully expected that the reader may from time to time, shed a tear.  It is believed that shedding tears is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of a person in touch with their emotions.

Each poem in this book discusses the topic to a varying degree, and always finishes on a positive note.

While every poem has some relevance to the overall theme of the book, the first half of the book is biased towards the more difficult subjects.

I always like to throw in a few surprises along the way, and this book is no exception. There is certainly one poem out of place, and it is designed that way. I can also say that it is one of my all-time favourite poems, and has on occasions, been sold separately, in its own right.

Some of the subjects may be too hard or even too controversial. In saying that, I do not have the first or the final say on any subject, and hope to foster discussion amongst people of these matters.

With all of that said, I invite you to read “Now for the too hard basket”.
